RPM Then & Now
This week week we thought to share some images from the RPM archives. The business was started back in 2001 where Ollie had set up after returning from a period of travelling and subsequently deciding he was done working for someone else! A garage space was found, and through word of mouth and some helpful contacts the business started to flourish.
From the humble beginnings of the single car garage, RPM moved to their ‘plush’ workshop barn. This allowed space for far more cars, additional vehicle ramps, parts storage and an engine/gearbox build area along with far more parking to accommodate a larger through flow of work. This is where RPM began to seriously get noticed by the wider Porsche fraternity. The types of Porsche models began to vary from road to race cars and even historics. The customer database began to grow as did the workforce. Ollie joined forces with Darren in 2006 and they started to assemble a very close team of carefully selected technical staff. The combination of a relaxed family atmosphere for customers and competent and professional work ethic resulted in plenty of repeat business and referrals.
Fast forward to 2011 and after two years of searching for an appropriate unit, a superb opportunity arose to move RPM just 5 minutes away to a new purpose built facility. This new facility had the potential to accommodate an eight car showroom with sales offices and customer area, four bay workshop, two bay Motorsport department with full dealer calibre Biessbarth geometry equipment, four times larger parts storage and finally a dedicated four cell engine and gearbox build room. The possibilities that this unlocked for the team were huge and with a lot of help the business moved in November 2011. Additional personnel were cherry-picked and the operation is now fifteen strong.
The next few years are set to be an interesting time for RPM as new business streams come online with some exciting new suppliers and the RPM Special Projects fully in action. We are very thankful to all of our customers right from day one in the single car garage for their continued custom and support. We will continue to support you in the same friendly and professional way that our core business values are based on, and we look forward to seeing all of you soon (although preferably not all on the same day, could get a bit crazy!
