718 GT4 Akrapovic Link Pipe Installation
The introduction of the 4.0 flat six engine by Porsche in 2019 heralded the return to naturally aspirated engines for the Boxster and Cayman GTS along with the GT4 and Boxster Spyder.
The new 4.0 engine not only gave a useful bump in power and torque but also Porsche owners were thrilled that it was the full compliment of six cylinders and the awesome usual engine note, back to its best.
Due to Euro emission laws, in order to be able to keep the engine as a naturally aspirated unit, the exhaust was fitted with the OPF filters. These are quite heavy and restrictive on power.
Not long after the introduction of the 4.0 in the Porsche Caymans and Boxsters, many aftermarket manufacturers saw the opportunity to offer owners a solution to both those issues.
Given Porsche has a close affiliation with Akrapovic (previously making exhausts on GT2 RS models and parts of the GT4 RS exhaust to name but two) it was only natural that we decided that their offering would be our chosen solution too.
The Akrapovic Porsche exhausts are not only exceptionally well made but fit perfectly every time, are TUV approved, and most crucially give genuine power gains without that annoying ’drone’ that often comes with fitting an exhaust.

The ‘Over axle pipes’ (OAP for short!) allow the Boxsters and Caymans to release that hidden bhp and wonderful sound track. Combining this with being remapped at the same time can give up to gains of 55bhp.
In the video below, we show a 718 GT4 with before and after power runs on the dyno, how the Akrapovic Porsche exhausts are fitted and what an over axle pipe exhaust even looks like.
