Porsche PCCM Plus: Bringing Modern Infotainment to Your Porsche
There’s a lot to love about an older Porsche. The inimitable handling feel, the engine noise, the way it makes even a quick trip to the shops feel like an occasion. The original infotainment system? Well, that’s perhaps one area where time hasn’t been quite so kind. Thankfully, you don’t have to choose between keeping your Porsche looking original and enjoying the technology we’ve become accustomed to. Enter Porsche Classic Communication Management Plus, better known as PCCM Plus!
Developed by Porsche Classic, PCCM Plus is a factory-designed infotainment upgrade that brings features such as Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, DAB radio and modern SatNav to a selection of older Porsche models. It’s designed to fit neatly into the dashboard, retaining the look and character of the original interior while making everyday driving a little more convenient. But which Porsches can have it fitted? What’s the difference between the available units? Let’s take a closer look.
What is Porsche PCCM Plus?
PCCM Plus is Porsche’s answer to bringing modern infotainment into its older models without resorting to an aftermarket solution that looks hugely out of place. All PCCM Plus systems feature a 7-inch touchscreen, with an overall design developed to replicae the original system of its respective Porsche. It combines modern connectivity with features that integrate with the car’s existing equipment, helping to preserve the factory-fitted appearance.
Depending on the unit and vehicle specification, the main features include:
- Apple CarPlay: And all the connectivity that comes with it such as: navigation, music and phone calls through your iPhone.
- Android Auto: Connect an Android smartphone for supported apps and functions.
- DAB radio: Enjoy digital radio stations, giving much more choice than the standard radio whilst also playing in higher quality.
- Bluetooth connectivity: Connect compatible devices for calls and audio.
- Navigation: Use the integrated navigation system, pulled directly from Porsches latest SatNav systems.
- Vehicle integration: Retain selected original functions, including trip-computer, steering-wheel controls, rear camera and sensors where supported by the car.
In other words, you can enjoy modern navigation and connectivity without having to balance your phone precariously in a cup holder or rely on a windscreen mount that inevitably falls off just as you approach a complicated junction. PCCM Plus also retains the familiar physical controls alongside the touchscreen, making it feel more at home in a Porsche than any generic alternatives.

Which Porsche models are compatible with PCCM Plus?
This is where things get a little more specific. PCCM Plus isn’t one universal unit that fits every Porsche with a suitable-looking dashboard. Porsche developed different versions for different model generations, so choosing the correct one is essential.
Porsche 911 (996) and Boxster (986)
The original PCCM Plus units were developed for the water-cooled 911 (996) and Boxster (986), introduced in the late 1990s. These cars share a similar dashboard architecture, allowing Porsche to develop a system that fits their original centre consoles while adding a substantial improvement in functionality.
Porsche 911 (997.1), Boxster and Cayman (987.1)
Porsche subsequently expanded the range to cover the first-generation 997 911, 987 Boxster and 987 Cayman. For UK-market cars, these applications generally cover the 2005–2008 model years for the 997 and 987.1, although the precise application should always be confirmed against the vehicle.
Porsche 911 (997.2, 991.1), Boxster and Cayman (987.2, 981)
The latest version of PCCM Plus, these systems feature all the benefits of the others whilst also being the first to integrate wireless apple Carplay and Android Auto, this frees up an extra USB port for charging and allows you to jump in and out of your Porsche without having to touch a cable!
First-generation Porsche Cayenne (E1)
The first-generation Cayenne, known internally as the E1, is also catered for by PCCM Plus. Designed for compatible early cars, generally from the 2003–2008 model years, this version replaces the original head unit with a modern touchscreen system while retaining integration with supported factory equipment.
