Schroth Introduces Seatbelt Anchor Upgrade for Porsche GT Cars
Schroth (maker of the 6-point racing harnesses that comes fitted to Porsche GT cars from the factory) has recently introduced a clever new innovation that delivers a genuine quality-of-life improvement for Porsche owners, particularly those who enjoy regular track use. Their latest three-point seatbelt anchor has been specifically designed to work alongside Schroth’s six-point harness systems, as found in Porsche GT Clubsport models.
When running a six-point harness on track, the original three-point seatbelt can often be left loose inside the cabin. This new anchor solves that problem by securely retaining the factory belt, preventing it from interfering with the side airbag while the harness is in use. It’s a simple solution that addresses a long standing annoyance for many track-day drivers.
The advantages are twofold. From a safety perspective, the anchor keeps the three-point belt properly secured, reducing the risk of it obstructing the side airbag system and giving the belt a point to tension against in the event of an incident. From a practical standpoint, it keeps the belt neatly out of the way so you can focus on driving without the seatbelt loosely knocking against your seat.
These newly designed anchors now come included with new Schroth six-point harness kits. However, we can also retrofit this upgrade to Porsche models delivered prior to the updated kit being released, allowing existing owners to benefit from the same convenience and safety upgrade.
