One of the best aspects to Porsche ownership can be the social interactions it creates. The various Porsche clubs in the UK all have diverse and interesting events that enable you to make use of your Porsche, see others and mix with like minded owners. Sometimes the best part of it all can be the fun journey that you have in your pride and joy actually getting to the event with friends!

One of the highlight events in the aircooled Porsche calendar is the ‘Classics at the Castle’ arranged by the Porsche Club of Great Britain, which is incidentally the largest car club in the world. The venue this year was as usual Hedingham Castle in Essex, an amazing venue even putting the cars to one side and well worth a visit.

The event covers every aspect of aircooled Porsche ownership with early Porsche cars like 356’s standing side to side with 1980’s Porsche aircooled race cars too. This year we attended the event with Chris Boys who is our Aircooled department manager, alongside Dave Lee who heads up our Engine department.

This was one of the shows that they were both really interested in attending, and it didn’t disappoint. Throughout the day, the enthusiasts passing through stopped to chat and look at the period diagnostic equipment on display.  All those years of experience and knowledge meant no question was left unanswered! They met many new friends over the course of the day.

The detail that these two RPM Technik staff members have amassed over three decades of working with Porsches is second to none, and it’s a real privilege to be able to hear what they can say. We think they should write a book on all that they know!

This years event was a celebration of 50 years of the 911 Turbo, with a very interesting selection of Turbo Porsches in the ‘Deer Park’. We took along a very special 959 which for many is the ultimate turbocharged Porsche of the era. Alongside the Turbo celebrations, another milestone year for Porsche has been reached with the ‘Silver Jubilee’ being achieved for the ‘GT3’ production run. Its slightly scary to think that the GT3 has been around that long already really. Hopefully Porsche will be able to continue this iconic model for a few more years yet, at least until the emission police clamp them down!

Keep an eye out for the event in 2025, with tickets likely to be hot property from Porsche Club Great Britain.
