992.1 GT3 RS MR – GT Silver

We’ve seen this particular 992.1 GT3 RS Weissach plenty of times before, it’s been a regular fixture at our RUSH trackdays, where its owner has already been putting Porsche’s most focused road car through its paces. Now, after coming back to us for a full Manthey conversion, it’s even better equipped for what it was already being used for.

The transformation centres around the Manthey aero package and suspension upgrades, giving the RS a much more focused setup for serious circuit driving. The additional aerodynamic components are designed to work with the car’s already impressive factory aero, increasing downforce and stability at higher speeds, while the Manthey coilovers give us far greater scope to optimise the car’s behaviour on track.

For this particular car, we’ve gone further with the setup, dialling in a highly aggressive track alignment designed to extract as much performance as possible from the chassis. Camber, toe and ride-height settings have all been configured with track driving firmly in mind, giving the car the sharper turn-in, increased front-end bite and improved tyre utilisation you want when chasing lap times. It’s a setup aimed squarely at getting the most from the RS MR rather than simply making it more capable on paper.

The exhaust has also received some attention. An Akrapovic titanium race pipe has been fitted to give the naturally aspirated flat-six a more purposeful soundtrack, complementing the considerably more aggressive appearance of the finished MR. However, trackdays can come with their own set of challenges, particularly when it comes to noise limits. To give the client some flexibility, the race pipe has been paired with an Akrapovic titanium exhaust silencer, which can be fitted for events at circuits with stricter noise restrictions. It’s a small but important detail for a car that actually gets used as intended. There’s little point building an incredibly capable track car if you then can’t get it onto certain circuits.

For additional practicality, the client also opted to have the Champion Motorsport 992 GT3 RS MR digital rearview mirror installed. This overcomes the issue of losing a rear window by swapping the mirror and a screen that connects to a camera unit attached on the rear deck, under the new carbon fiber sharkfin.

When on track this client makes regular use of a Garmin Catalyst for analysing laps, monitoring performance and helping identify where those all-important seconds can be found. He uses one of our specially designed 992 centre-console mounts, positioning the Catalyst neatly to the side of the driver rather than directly in the line of sight. It keeps the display easily accessible while leaving the driver’s view and controls clear when things get busy.

Ultimately, this is exactly the sort of RS we love to see. It was already a regular on our trackdays before the Manthey conversion, and now that it has the aero, suspension, alignment and supporting hardware to match its owner’s ambitions, we’re expecting to see a lot more of it on track in the future!
